Then I would recommend this book: MUGGING THE MUSE, by Holly Lisle. She has a lot to say about all the basic things you need to know. She doesn't pull her punches, but she can get you started on the right path. FREE For Adobe PDF e-books it is best to use the free program: ADOBE E-BOOK READER, not Adobe PDF reader. You can download it free from HERE. |
INNER LIGHT OUTER WEALTH E-BOOK I found this book to be one of the most helpful and useful I have read for quite a long time. It is mostly about your inner world, how you interpret life, how you react to events. It will not appeal to everyone because it is from the perspective of Eastern philosophy (ie India / China) rather than Middle-East religions. It is not dogmatic, nor does it cut into traditional religions, rather it supplements them. Many of the ideas are from the 20th century---the important thing is whether they can help the reader or not. I think most people will find a lot in here that will help them to interpret the world they live in. It is quite a short book, about 40 pages. You can also get a free ezine for further reading. It is in pdf. FREE DOWNLOAD HERE |
This is an eight page magazine. It might be short, but it contains a lot of sensible advice about how to improve your life. It is certainly worth reading. This one is in pdf, which causes confusion for a lot of people. Try right-clicking and SAVE AS. If you find your Adobe Reader opens up, well just let it go, you should still be able to save it when it has downloaded. FREE |
BOOK OF DOGS Do you have a dog? Want a dog? Or perhaps you just love other people's dogs? If any of the above, you will get something out of this practical book on dogs.DOWNLOAD HERE |
Crime and Punishment is an extremely compelling story of an intellectual but criminal mind. The student Raskolnikov lives in poverty, pawning his few items of little value. He doesn't like his pawnbroker, feeling she is not an asset to society and begins to weigh up the value of each person's life. Who is worth the most to society? And if he believes this, then he should act on his beliefs. This novel explores psychology, philosophy, and murder. |

DOWNLOAD HERE First published in 1855, revised and added to a number of times, this book of poems was vilified at the time, described as "indecent", largely because Whitman wrote about some subjects that were taboo. One critic, hmmm his name has disappeared now, wanted to "horsewhip" Whitman for writing something as disgusting as this. These days it is regarded as an American Classic, unfortunately at the time Whitman lived in poverty and had to self-publish. |
DOWNLOAD HERE This is a Russian play from the 19th century, rather depressing, but very interesting. Chekov wrote about forrests in this play a hundreds years before we even knew what "ecology" was. This play, is largely about interpersonal relationships. |
DOWNLOAD HERE This is a dark and brooding novel of the English moorlands. A long time favourite it is a fascinating novel, and made into a couple of movies. |
DOWNLOAD HERE This is one of the world's great religious books. An epic story, often read in the Western world as well as India. |
This project is to turn all the great paper books into e-books, using plain text files. They have now transcribed thousands of classics, all free. I think the best way to read these is using the Y-book reader. Reading books on a PC may at first seem awkward, but it is something you can easily get used to. |
MIND LIKE WATER. This is a good site to find e-books, some are free, some you pay for. It is certainly worthwhile to pay for paperbacks books, fortunately, most e-books are far cheaper and worth the money. |
